I’ve got to hand it to Saints Row Brewing, a small brewery in Rockville, Maryland. It’s not that I’m in love with Saxsquatch, a stout that leaves a grape soda aftertaste, but the flavor is one of the most original I’ve had with a stout. It’s described as ‘blueberry, vanilla and oatmeal,’ and I concur… that’s exactly what it tastes like, with 6% alcohol. While I’m struggling to finish this beer, as it’s got the standard stout thickness that doesn’t lend itself to chugging, I don’t think I’ll be forgetting it any time soon. In the land of many beers, too many of them are forgettable. This one isn’t, and that’s worth something.

2 stars.
