The first thing that stood out to me on Augustiner Brau’s Maximator was the golden tinfoil around the cap. Surly, that, plus the fact that it was bottled in Munich, and the warrior-looking dude on the label means that it would be delicious. All of this made me decide to give it a shot.

This is one of the few dark beers – outside of Guiness – that I’ve drank in a long time so it took awhile for me to figure out exactly what was going on with the taste. Roasty, chestnutty, treacly, perhaps?  It’s all there. It tastes okay. Do I love it? No, though dark beer lovers will likely enjoy it.
